FringeNYC award winner “I Kissed Dash Riprock!” returns to USA & UK

• Winner: Award in Excelence (Solo Show) The New York International Fringe Festival – 2002
• Grand Prize Winner: Mass Cultural Council Playwriting Fellowship for New Works - 1999

Edinburgh Fringe favourite and New York International Fringe Festival award winner, Cyndi Freeman, brings her critically acclaimed one woman show, “I Kissed Dash Riprock!” back to the UK on tour. A comedy about Sex, Celebrity & the Pursuit of Happiness, The Boston Globe describes Freeman’s performance as “fearless” and Freeman as “.. an impressive actress who isn’t afraid to be sexy on stage.”

“I Kissed Dash Riprock!” is a hot-blooded adventure, taking you over the rainbow and through the looking glass, into a land of luxury hotel suites, million-dollar mansions, chauffeurs, champagne, paparazzi, psycho fans and carrots dangled on sticks---told in a unique storytelling style that’s part stand-up and part theatre, with a camp sensibility all its own. -- Co-Written & Directed by Ellen Groves

Based on dreams, delusions and true personal misadventures, Freeman performs 4 comic monologues that follow the heart on a joyride through Hollywood, Boston, New York & London---a global chronicle of those from the "right side" of the velvet rope and those who wait tables and hand out leaflets while dressed as giant milk cartons.

Dash Riprock won writer and performer Freeman and co-writer/director Ellen Groves an “Excellence Award” in the category of solo show at the 2002 New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC). Her solo show “Greetings From Hollywood” also won an award at FringeNYC-1997: Best Collaborative Effort (again with Dash Riprock co-creator Ellen Groves).

This intrepid exploration of art, love, fame and happiness rips the veneer off celebrity for a piercing look at what draws people together despite the well-meaning advice of friends, family and mental health professionals. When fate (and hormones) constantly throws our heroine up against the object of her affections, and a "real" relationship proves elusive, the only thing a gal can do is get over it and move on, right? Sure. And then the phone rings..

Sex fame and rumor make a potent combination…a brilliant monologue… intelligent and perceptive…like any starlet worth her Victoria Secrets she knows how to show us a good time… (The Independent - London)
